James “Dr. Jim” Wasielewski

Dr. James Wasielewski (Dr. Jim) was born and raised in central NY and attended New York State College at Geneseo. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Psychology. While attending Geneseo, Dr. Jim was heavily involved in school activities. He was a collegiate longdistance swimmer who participated in NCAA tournaments and was also selected to the prestigious Biology Honor society. Upon matriculation from college, Dr. Jim attended the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry and graduated in 2003; his passion for continued education landed him a 1 year position as a General Practice Resident at Faxton St. Luke’s Hospital Dental Group. Following completion of his residency, Dr. Jim worked in private practice for 3 years in Central New York where he learned the art of digital dentistry and studied CEREC restorations.

“The ability to provide patients with permanent, final crown and bridge work, in one visit, truly minimizes chair time for the patient and lag time without the need for temporary restorative materials. I value my patient’s time and always strive to stay on the cutting edge of technology. My patients really enjoy watching their crown being printed, in the office, before their eyes!”

In 2007, Dr. Jim decided to trade the snow for year-round sunshine and moved to Tampa! Dr. Jim served the Spring Hill community for many years, working alongside a General Dentist who is also an Interventional Cardiologist. Through his position here, he not only perfected his Dental dexterity, but also gained extensive training on the management of medically compromised patients. Through working with this population, Dr. Jim found a passionate niche for maintaining the dental needs of these patients.

In 2016, Dr. Jim purchased his own Dental Office, where he currently practices with his sidekick, Zoe – a 3-year-old, Great Dane therapy dog! “She is specifically trained to calm nervous patients. Zoe is happy to put her head in your lap, if you request it, to help shift your focus to something other than the drill!”

Currently, Dr. Jim serves as a Dental Clearance Consultant for Moffitt Cancer Center, helping to manage oral conditions of patients undergoing cancer treatment. These patients require specific care and monitoring for a variety of oral consequences secondary to chemotherapy and associated medicinal side effects.

Dr. Jim also has a passion for community outreach and giving back, in any capacity available. He has been selected as one of the Dentists who cares for the USF Athletic Department. As a once collegiate athlete himself, Dr. Jim truly loves being able to care for the athletes at USF via any dental procedures needed. Specifically, Dr. Jim ensures their teeth are fully protected by crafting them mouthguards, which he hopes they always wear! Furthermore, Dr. Jim returns to his home base a few times a year to teach the current Dental Residents at Faxton St. Luke’s Hospital. Nothing brings him more joy than to share his knowledge base with the younger generation of Dentists.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Jim enjoys fitness and staying active. Recently, he has found a passion in body building, weight training and learning about food science. Dr. Jim also recently got married to Dr. Ashley Millstein, an Endodontist. They have a lot of fun working out together, talking Dentistry together, and pushing each other to be better every day!
